TRAINING

In-the-line-up

We're totally satisfied with the purchase of our Cisco bred gelding, Reb. The training they put on him allowed our daughter to show him safely and successfully the week after they delivered him. We wouldn't consider buying a horse from anyone else!"

"After a very bad experience with a trainer on different young horse we sent out, I was very anxious about sending “Bugs Fire and Ice” to anyone. I am glad I made the decision to send him to Jeff and Sue Thompson at Western Sky Equine in 2006. They have restored my belief that there are people out there that can be trusted to do a good job and be up front about everything.

We really appreciate the communication between owner and trainer and they have some very positive equine skills that need to be known by more people. I sent a young horse to them that I knew would be a huge challenge. I don't know of anyone else who could have taken “Bug” and done what they have done in just three months, many others would have ruined him. I’m so impressed that in just three months training under them “Bug” is trailing and watching cattle and doing things that some older horses would refuse to do. The pictures they have emailed to me document the successes they are having and it’s a great way to let an owner know the progress of their horse.

I keep in contact with the owners of “Bugs” sire, “Millionaire Playboy” on his progress and this is the comment I received from Doug and Carol Schafer of Sandy Ridge Stallion Station: "You made the right decision in sending “Bug” to Jeff and Sue Thompson."

We have a yearling filly which we will be sending to them next year.

We thank both of them for all they have done."

At Western Sky Equine, we meet each individual horse where they are and determine what it will take to bring out the best in each one. Our approach is based on our education and experience in communication and understanding of horses and how they need each training session to be presented to them in order to learn.

Whether we’re starting a youngster or fine tuning a seasoned horse, being safe and letting the horse learn in a manner that makes sense to them is our goal. We focus on what each individual horse has to offer and utilize what their particular skills and abilities are.

"I would highly recommend Jeff and Sue Thompson to start and train young horses. They have trained a number of them for me and have done a splendid job!"

I chose Western Sky Equine for my training needs with my colt because I needed an exceptionally safe, well-broke horse, and our colt deserved and needed consistent, professional training. I wanted him to have the very best this state offered.

I can say, unequivocally, that Jeff and Sue have a real gift for being able to tune into each individual colt's learning style and needs. They have given me exactly the kind of horse I desired. His training was exceptionally well-rounded, including all the general work to develop balance, strength, stamina, smooth transitions, proper leads, etc. In addition, they taught him roping and working cattle, basic reining maneuvers, started him on barrels, ponying and training colts off him, and even took him on several overnight mountain trips. I couldn't ask for better results- I’ve never had a better broke horse- He is a dream!
